How does an adoptive child obtain his/her original birth certificate that shows his/her natural birth parents and original birth record?

It depends on what state you are trying to obtain it from. In my state, NC, one must petition the Superior Court in the county where the adoption was finalized.

i need to find my parents and havent had luck,HELP!adopted parents changed middle name. was born in '81.need to find for helth resons among others.

Hey I was wondering too, I was born in Arizona, and all I can find is that you have to be 21, well I turn 21 in a month and I'm trying to find out all this info. I really want to at least know how my birth mother is fairing. if you have any information on finding original birth certificates in Arizona, it would be extremely useful, I've been looking since I was 15.

Hi froshyjack

As per the law An adopted child's turns 20 he or she may apply to the Registrar-General of Births and Deaths for an original birth certificate. The Registrar-General must notify the adopted person of the counselling services that are available. If the adopted person then indicates that he or she does wish to attend counselling, the birth certificate is sent to the relevant counsellor or counselling organisation, and the adopted person can then obtain it from that counsellor or organisation.

If the adopted person doesn't notify the Registrar-General that counselling is desired, the adopted person is notified that the birth certificate is being kept on his or her behalf and is then sent to the person if he or she makes another request for it.
