I was just wondering for all of you families that have adopted a biracial baby, how long did you wait from activation to the day you brought your angel home?

It took us 7 months but in between we had a disrupted match. We activated at the end of June 2007 and had a disruption in August. We matched with our son's birth mother in October and he was born in December.

The wait times are typically shorter for a bi-racial child, but it depends on a lot of different factors.

We waited about 4 1/2 months. We got notice of our match on the day our son was born.

Hello all. We are new to American Adoptions, not yet acitvated, but any day now..... we are doing the agency assisted program. We want to be gender specific, and our biggest concern is the fact that we have 5 other children already, 2 adopted, 3 biological! we are wondering if there are other families out there with our size that have been successful in adopting and how long was their wait?

Probably It will take 7 to 8 Month, Mostly we have to wait couple of months for activation.

One thing I can suggest is to watch the Adoption Situations sections for situations where AA is looking for an adoptive couple to match with a birth mother. If you have interest in any of those, contact the AA person listed. That's how we got our match and our DS.
